Don't YOU ever wonder why so many Blogs are bull and doring? I know I do. You expect to find the same thing every day. How un-creative!

I'd like to visit a Blog where I could expect the unexpected. So I decided to create one.

This Web Blog was haphazardly produced without using Spell Check one danged time. We like it that way.

Our Lightning Strike Image.9 November 2007: Good morning! I certainly hope you'll be dropping by my LIGHTNING STRIKES @ BLOGTALKRADIO show this morning to join my conversation with Linux guru ROBIN "roblimo" MILLER of Slashdot.org, NewsForge.com, et alia and throw a few of your questions his way. Like why decided not to run for President of the United States. [See the Right Sidebar for details.]

And, of course, you're welcomed back on Monday morning, 12 November, when I talk with Professor Robert Jensen about race, class, privlege and his new book Pornography & The End of Masculinity. I expect it will an informative and provocative interview as well.

These are both morning shows and - as people who know Rod know - Rod hates mornings almost as much as he hates Mondays. I don't even feel human until after I've completed my e-mail queue duties, done some writing while it's still quiet and then had a good lunch. But, hey, everybody else seems to LOVE - LOVE - LOVE! the morning. So I have to adjust. Sheesh!

2 November 2007: I re-activated the G21 Newsletter for the members of the G21: The World's Magazine list to update them on developments since I discontinued it in March - especially how I've expanded my horizons by creating a Network of Blogs and sites, began doing a live Internet radio call-in show (See Right Sidebar), developed as a Podcast producer and acquired the LeverageSocialMedia.com Blog. I had to walk away from being a magazine publisher but that didn't mean that I didn't see more mountaintops calling me to visit.

Now that I've neared the end of the journey I planned back in November of 2006, I've already begun planning for 2008 and what I hope to accomplish next year. I hope you'll stick around for the ride. If you're returning after my hiatus from your World's Magazine, welcome back, my lovely.

Those of you with a little savvy will note from a lot of the developments that I'm transitioning from being identified with the G21 brand - which I consider relatively established after over a decade - and developing the new Lightning Strikes brand. I believe it represents something symbolic about where I've taken my efforts here on the Web over the years.

Long-time Loyal Readers will remember that the choice of the G21 moniker was shorthand for GENERATOR 21, based on the concept of generating energy to sustain us into the 21st Century. Now that we are actively into the century, my choice of moniker is more organic. Lightning Strikes defines what we are about now in that we are drawing from an elemental source, cosmic power - if you're so inclined - to some we mean to come as a storm, to others as a sign of beauty and power.

No, it has nothing to do with hurling thunderbolts, you cynics! (Not that I'm above that, as the RANTS Section amply demonstrates. Our Winking Smiley Emoticon.)

So now that I've more publ icly unveiled my new enterprise(s), I hope you'll subscribe to our RSS feeds or move your bookmark here instead of leaving it over at The World's Magazine. Thanks in advance!

Snarky But Not Quite A Rant

I was thinking this morning, "Hey, Rod, what if Jesus was right? What if it's really meant for the meek to inherit the Earth?"

Another Lightning Strikes Logo.I know - considering all the death and destruction around us all the time, the number of refugees on this planet today - that's a very radical thought but radical thoughts pop into my mind all the time.

What I started thinking was that maybe Nature, being basically impartial, was sending us a message with what some of my friends in Serbia refer to as the "White Plague." They use this term to talk about the low marriage and childbearing rates in Eastern Europe. So - let's think about it - IF Nature is concerned with the survival of those She thinks are the fittest stewards of this planet, wouldn't She want more of them to reproduce, thus having a statistically higher probability of being in charge?

Or, to put it another way, whom would you encourage if you were a planet? Would you encourage the people despoiling your crust and your core, poisoning your water, razing your forests, raping your oceans and destroying the very air itself? Or would you support those people closest to you who were meek and left a smaller footprint?

The meek shall inherit the Earth.

I don't know about you but if I was Gaia, I'd like to see a lot more Mexicans, (East) Indians and Chinese...

Brickbats welcomed.

That Joke of the American (Horse-Race?) Election

I can only wag my head when listening to the Punditocrazy (pun intended) go wild this week over Senator Hilary Clinton's supposed "gaffe" on the immigration issue at the latest Democratic debate this past Tuesday. As I wrote about Barack Obama's candidacy when he had Star Power, there is a predictable pattern to these things: the Mouthpiece Media builds a candidate up, says they are the wave of the future, only to tear them down as soon as The Message being spoon-fed to the public takes hold.

After giving Barack a free ride for months, they suddenly changed their tune and talked about how he couldn't connect with Black voters as well as Billary because he wasn't "Black enough." Then they said he was "stiff and pedantic" (the Al Gore Treatment) and now they just call him "boring."

I'm starting to miss Sam Brownback. Just kidding!

Photo of Hillary Clinton.Of course, while Obama was being torn down, it was then time for the free ride and build up for Hillary.

Now that the spoon-fed Message and coronation mode has worked, it's Hill's turn to take hits for being "out of touch" with the voters in the middle of the country who are concerned about immigration and how this may be "a turning point in her campaign from which the Senator might not be able to recover." Man! I wish I could make as much Bank as MSNBC's Chris Matthews for being a blowhard! Are you listening, God?

I'm just wondering who's next in the trash-o-fest... Any takers?

The Circus Is In Town

No, that is not one of my typical sarcastic headlines. I AM going to the circus tomorrow afternoon. I've always loved the circus. The only woman I ever married ran away to join the circus after she graduated from high school. That fact alone sent me head-over-heels for her; lots of people talk about doing it but she's the only one I've ever met who did.

IF an old hermit like me is going to get out of his cave and go anywhere, the circus is perfect. The child in me craves a good time at the circus again.

As Elvis leaves the building, let me encourage you to comment about all this, visit the four (4) sites/blogs in my new Network and feel free to make suggestions along the ride. And remember; keep your tray tables up and your seatbelts fastened.

Thanks for coming back to visit. Your Comments are always welcomed.
