We like it that way. ESOTERICA: Yeah, the top country for readers here is still the USA. But only about 47% of the people reading this site come from America. More than 50% come from elsewhere. We're still trying to figure that out.

In the article Rory makes the argument that CNN, while partnering with Youtube.com could not get over being controlling. While I certainly appreciate his perspective, I also believe it represents the hypocrisy of many of us in the leftist media regarding the issue of control. Look around you for a moment at my colleagues. Meanwhile all of these people manage to complain about a Rupert Murdoch. Quite frankly, it's the pots calling the kettle black. Totalitarianism is just as awful from the left as it is from the other side of the aisle, at least from this view. Carping about other people's control because they have more money than you do is tantamount to penis- or vagina-envy. Wake up! It's called capitalism. If you don't like the system, do what I'm attempting to do and work to change the system. Now, since I've increased the list of people who consider me a heretic, let's put the icing on the cake, shall we? Democracy is now proven to be a failed system. George W. Bush and Dick Cheney took care of that one. What they managed to prove in the process was the validity of socialism. For those of you who don't understand t
he difference between socialism and communism, I'll provide a simple definition. In short, those who are able contribute to the benefit of society as they are able, those who are in need are offered what they need. (Think health insurance for a moment.) I certainly expect backlash for both the propositions I've brought up in only these few hundreds words. First of all, by pointing out hypocrisy on the left and secondly by calling democracy a failed system. Let me close by saying that I am not blameless. When G21.net was a magazine, one writer referred to it, kindly, as "Rod's Little Toy Store." I maintained editorial control of the content. The difference between myself and some of my fellow travelers is that I never denied my bias. They claim to be champions of a free press while running systems that are anything but free. Therein, in my view, lies the rub. Finally, I continue to have a hope, a dream - if you will - that social media will take control out of all of our hands, Rupert Murdoch's, Amy Goodman's and mine. Wouldn't that be nice? Herewith, that rant: Rod: I cannot tell you how pissed I am at this crap with the Catholic Priests sex abuse. Seems only "right" that it should happen in California. Ugly... sinful... dirty... deceitful... filthy... God, forgive me for what I am thinking! $1.3M a pop and it all goes away. Who pays for the crimes? Where is the justice? Wait a damned minute!!!!! thinking Let's say you... .no wait a minute... piss on it... let's say I decided some years ago that I would become a Sunday School Teacher, for hummmmmmm 10 year olds. My class consisted of 10 children: 5 boys and five girls. (see where this is going) Over the next 6 years I, through various means of persuasion, entice these children to perform and/or take part in certain indecent acts. What do you suppose would happen to me after one of the children came forward and exposed me to police or to a DA.? Now, let's say that I was independently wealthy...politically powerful... a "gem" in the eyes of the public community... and a philanthropist that donated huge amounts of money to political interest and to communities that I live in. What would happen to me now? What is wrong with this picture? Can we determine what has happened? Serious crimes have been committed by sexual predators, sexual deviates. That is obvious... they admitted it. And now they have "paid" for their crimes with an out-of-court settlement? Bull shit! So there you have it, Gentle Reader, a statement of outrage. A cry about the injustice in this world. For whatever reason - okay, probably because I'm a well-known Web publisher and writer - I get e-mails like this EVERY SINGLE DAY. For reasons beyond my control, people think I am like Emile Zola. Hey! Hello! Guess what? I am not! I no longer believe I can save the world. Both my friend John, in his outrage, and Bill Maher, in his humor, speak, to something about which we are all concerned: who can you trust? If you can't trust your priest, who can you trust? Yes, I know there's the larger issue of The Church just doing a payoff but that's not what concerns me, Kids. What concerns me is the issue of who we are as people. That's a core issue for me and most of what I have been writing about over the years. Sorry if you didn't notice. As a person who has lived in various cities dominated by The Church - and having beocme an apostate and a pagan - I am unqualified to weigh in on the issue that both John and Bill address. I can only speak from the outside. From my perspective we have as much to worry about from the community of faith in our own country as we do from the jihadists. I believe I've said that before.
